Have yourself a very Mr Billy Fitzgerald Xmas

If you’re celebrating, I hope you’re having yourself a nice run-up to Xmas. It can be a stress-y, difficult time for most of us (though we always tell ourselves otherwise) so if you’re having a tough one, you’re not alone and I hope you’re finding at least a few little pockets of nice times amongst the obligation and social pressure.

To contribute to that, here’s one of my “Xmas Specials” - filmed during the pandemic lockdowns of the early 2020s, I got together with some very good friends of mine to record and make a video for a cover of the very best Xmas song that’s not really an Xmas song: East 17’s “Stay Another Day”.

During the lockdowns, I started making weekly cover videos - challenging myself to learn a new song every week, create a very “me” arrangement of it and shoot a little video for it. I shared this videos with friends and co-workers (and eventually the internet) to give people a bit of a laugh and entertainment as a momentary escape from the challenges we were all experiencing.

I ended up making over 70 of these videos and I really loved the weekly challenge. Eventually, as I always do, I got very carried away and ended up making very complex, deeply ridiculous music videos - taking the opportunity at specific holidays to get as ambitious as possible.

This was my final video and I decided to go out with a bang, bringing my bandmates from my long-running private side project Toys Of Eros together to record and shoot a special boyband video. We had a blast making this and I think the results make that quite evident.

So sit back, relax and enjoy this one. It’s a little Xmas present from me to you and I hope it helps you slip into the season nicely. Happy Xmas!
