New year, who dis?
It’s a new year and man, when I think about what I was up to 12 months ago, it’s hard to believe so much has happened so fast. In January of 2025, I was feverishly working away on the finishing details for my debut solo album “A Grand Romantic Gesture”. Making music videos, getting little bits and pieces printed, impatiently awaiting the arrival of the lovingly crafted vinyl records… it was a busy time.
And now as I put the last 12 months in the rear-view mirror, it’s tempting to feel like all of that activity didn’t really matter, that I should just focus on the next thing. But then I see something like Aaron Kavanagh choosing my album as his pick for “Best Irish Album” in The Goo magazine’s end of year list and it makes me realise what a lovely year this has been.
Thanks so much to Aaron and all the wonderful folks who’ve been supporting me and my music over the last year. It’s an amazing thing to have your music connect with people around the world and to make an impression or stand out even just a little from the plethora of releases every week is just incredible.
Thanks everybody - now to get back to putting the finishing touches on something new…
