People are saying the nicest things about my new single
You Had Your Chance has been out a few weeks now and I’m absolutely delighted with the response. This song was never conceived as a single but somehow, it’s finding an audience, getting spins on the radio and receiving praise from publications at home and abroad. I wanted to share some of the highlights with you.
The Other Side
“The vulnerability in its warmth captures the essence of ‘You Had Your Chance’ – a raw, honest, vulnerable song about broken relationships and heartache… not merely a song; it’s an emotional connection with a talented musician.”
Nicole Mendes at The Other Side gave a really nice review - I really appreciate when a reviewer goes this in-depth. We songwriters and musicians put so much hidden effort into our songs and releases that it can be very frustrating to see them summed up into 100 words or less. Even when the reviews are good, it can be hard to tell how seriously a reviewer took the track (in reality of course, that’s the hidden magic of journalists - condensing a mile of perspective into as few words as possible!). But when you read reviews like Nicole’s, you can tell how seriously she takes her job and it’s so great to hear her thoughts.

The Sounds Won’t Stop
“One Of The Best Break Up Songs We've Heard… The energy levels of this song are outstanding… while the song unfolds, you can start to get a grasp of Billy's vocal range, which is absolutely astounding”
Another review I loved was a similarly in-depth exploration by The Sounds Won’t Stop. There’s a really informal, stream-of-consciousness vibe to the writing on this site that I love. It’s like a friend gushing about something they’ve heard, unafraid to dive into the details or tell you about their personal reaction to what they’re listening to. And their very kind, thoughtful words about my song are lovely to hear.

Turn Up The Volume
“With his chirpy high-pitched voice, his jazzy swagger, and his songwriting prowess, Fritzgerald takes you back to the 60s/70s for some Motown soul excitement. Sexual healing ambiance.”
Turn Up The Volume have been so supportive of me since I started releasing my music and to get selected as one of their best songs for September is a real honour. Thanks so much!
…and the rest
And not to leave anybody out, thank you so much for all of your lovely comments, playlists, reviews, streams, shares, likes, subscribes, follows… just for the support, it means so much to an independent musician like me. You’re the best, Planet Earth.
