The first video from my new EP

My new EP is out there getting stuck into the ears of the public so it’s time to share something for your eyes… the video for Give Me A Chance - one of my favourite songs of mine.

The recording is based around acoustic guitar, drum machine, shakers and a little bit o’ piano. Some of the drums and piano parts were arranged by my good friend and drummer Dennis and they really help the song move. Pared back like this, it’s got an undeniable groove and one that is quite different from the album version.

It’s kind of mad how you can spent literal years recording, tweaking, re-recording, re-arranging and messing with a song for your album and then turn around and lay down a pretty much live version with just a few elements and it is just as valid a recording as the original. That’s something I love about recording and performance - how unique a recording or a performance can be and how there is never just one way to do a song.
